Robin Williams confirmed as new FIH chairman

By Josh White

Date: Wednesday 30 Aug 2017

LONDON (ShareCast) - (ShareCast News) - International 'essential services' business FIH Group announced the appointment of Robin Williams as its non-executive chairman on Wednesday, with effect from 11 September.
The AIM-traded company said Williams was bringing a "wide breadth" of corporate experience gained at a range of quoted and private businesses, as well as 10 years in investment banking.

He was currently chairman at Xaar, the AIM-quoted Cambridge-based inkjet print head manufacturer.

In addition, he chairs NHS Professionals, a business owned by the Department of Health.

Williams is also a non-executive director at Van Elle, the UK's largest independent ground engineering contractor.

"We are delighted to welcome Robin to our board," aid FIH CEO John Foster.

"Robin has extensive corporate and plc board experience, as well as many years of involvement within essential services businesses and we look forward to his contribution to the company."

Robin qualified as an accountant in 1982 after graduating in engineering science from the University of Oxford, FIH's board said in its statement.

He worked in corporate finance for ten years at investment banks including Salomon Brothers and UBS before leaving the City in 1992 to co-found the packaging business Britton Group.

In 1998, he moved to Hepworth, the building materials group, and since 2004 he has focused on non-executive work in public, private and private equity backed businesses.

It was intended that Williams would initially chair the company's nomination committee, the board added.

"The board would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Jeremy Brade who has been acting chairman since May ... and who will remain on the board as a non-executive director," John Foster added.
