LONDON (ShareCast) - (Sharecast News) - Topps Tiles' share price jumped on Thursday after the retailer appointed former National Express boss Alex Jensen as its new chief executive officer and reported a change-up in the chief financial officer role.
The tile specialist said that, following current CEO Rob Parker's announced retirement in January, Jensen will join the business in September and work alongside Parker until the end of the year.

Jensen, mostly recently CEO of National Express UK, Ireland and Germany, previously had an extensive career at BP, where she led the transformation of the oil group's retail and B2B fleet services, both as divisional CEO and global chief marketing officer at BP.

"We are delighted to announce the appointment of Alex as the new CEO of the group," said Topps chair Paul Forman.

"Alex brings extensive retail, multi-site and digital experience as well as a proven record of value creation. I am confident that Alex will be instrumental in helping us deliver our goal of Mission 365, creating value for all stakeholders."

Meanwhile, the company also announced that CFO Stephen Hopson is to leave the business for pub chain Marston's, and has appointed Mike Killick as his temporary replacement while the search for a permanent CFO kicks off.

Killick has been CFO across a number of retail, multi-site and public company environments, Topps said, including Pod Point Group, Restore, Peacocks, Thorntons and Jones Bootmaker.

Topps shares were up 5.6% at 37.9p by 0808 BST.
