LONDON (ShareCast) - (Sharecast News) - Carnival's AIDA Cruises unit said operations would resume from two German ports at the beginning of September 2020 after gaining approvals from the Italian government on Covid-19 safety precautions.
The first trips from Kiel will start on September 6 and cruises with cruises on the company's AIDAperla vessel to the Norwegian fjords also sailing from Hamburg on September 12, 19 and 26.

"In the coming days, AIDA Cruises will review the specific details of this decision and will work closely with all responsible authorities of the flag state Italy and the classification society in order to carefully implement the new protocols and regulations in the sense of a responsible restart on board the AIDA ships," carnival said in a statement.

"Due to the current situation, the company must extend the pause of its cruise season until September 30, 2020, except for the above-mentioned departures."

Carnival last week said it had been forced to cancel short trips on AIDA Cruises as the Italian government had still not granted approvals.

The cruise line in July had said it would restart operations in August after cruises had been stopped to prevent the spread of the coronavirus pandemic as countries ordered lockdowns and imposed travel restrictions.

Carnival said trips between August 5 and 12 were affected by the delay. AIDA said it would reimburse payments to those who had booked cruises and allow them to re-book a different cruise, with an on-board credit of 50% of the actual travel price.
