LONDON (ShareCast) - (Sharecast News) - UK antitrust authorities have launched an investigation into eBay's proposed acquisition of Motors.co.uk.
The Competition and Markets Authority is worried that the deal could lead to a merger situation that "may result in a substantial lessening of competition".
The CMA invited any interested parties to comment on their thoughts on the proposed deal, setting a deadline of 27 December as part of a Phase 1 probe.
It is possible that the investigation could be referred to a deeper Phase 2 examination, as the CMA launched this month for PayPal's takeover of UK-based iZettle.
