Great Western reports positive exploration results from M5 prospect

Date: Tuesday 18 Feb 2025

LONDON (ShareCast) - (Sharecast News) - Great Western Mining reported positive exploration results from its M5 prospect in Mineral County, Nevada on Tuesday, with soil geochemistry and induced polarisation (IP) surveys indicating a continuation of gold and copper anomalies to the northeast.
The AIM-traded firm said the M5 prospect, located within the Jack Springs claim group, features an 850-metre-long ridge composed of mafic intrusions within altered volcanic rock.

Previous exploration identified high-grade silver mineralisation, including a quartz vein sample with bonanza grades of 5.14 grams of gold per tonne, 1,246 grams of silver per tonne, and 0.32% copper.

Soil sampling in 2023 outlined a 1,500-metre-long, 400-metre-wide anomalous zone for gold and copper, extending to the edge of overlying volcanic cover.

The recent IP survey confirmed a chargeability anomaly beneath the southwestern flank of the ridge, Great Western said, coinciding with a strong resistivity high at the ridge crest.

It added that the survey also identified a stronger chargeability anomaly further northeast beneath volcanic cover, suggesting the mineralised system continues.

Additional soil sampling in the same area returned anomalous gold values, with seven samples between 10 and 15 parts of gold per billion and 26 samples exceeding five parts per billion.

Copper values were also elevated, with six samples above 75 parts per million and peak values of 177 and 150 parts per million.

"These surveys have identified copper and gold anomalies aligned over a chargeability high, reinforcing the potential for a significant mineralised system," said chairman Brian Hall.

"The results will support drill targeting prioritisation as the company advances its exploration strategy in the Walker Lane Belt."

At 1216 GMT, shares in Great Western Mining Corporation were flat at 0.02p.
