Galileo starts RC drilling in Kalahari Copperbelt

Date: Tuesday 26 Aug 2025

LONDON (ShareCast) - (Sharecast News) - Galileo Resources announced the start of a reverse circulation drilling programme at its PL253 licence in the Kalahari Copperbelt on Tuesday, targeting prospective copper-silver mineralisation near major industry exploration projects.
The AIM-traded company said four holes would be drilled to test geochemical, geological and structural targets in the northwestern part of the licence, which lies close to BHP and Cobre's Kitlanya projects.

BHP recently agreed to invest up to $25m in exploration on Cobre's licences, underscoring confidence in the region's potential for Tier 1 copper-silver deposits.

Galileo said its targets included soil anomalies and interpreted thrust faults near the D'Kar/Ngwako Pan contact, along strike from BHP and Cobre's Tlou prospect.

A 2022 programme using handheld pXRF analysis identified consistent downhole copper anomalism at one site, which will be further tested in the current drilling campaign.

"Our drilling programme now underway on PL253 is being carried out in an area with a highly prospective address," said chairman and chief executive Colin Bird.

"Significant exploration commitment by BHP and others has placed the spotlight on this underexplored northwestern limb of the KCB and provides considerable encouragement for our programme.

"We look forward to the outcome and will keep shareholders informed as results are received."

At 1017 BST, shares in Galileo Resources were up 10.67% at 0.83p.
