(Sharecast News) - Semiconductor group Alphawave IP has extended the 'put up or shut up' deadline for Qualcomm for the fourth time in a month to give the California-based chip giant more time to decide whether or not to make a firm offer.
The companies first announced that they were in takeover talks on 1 April with an initial PUSU deadline set for 29 April. That was later extended to 12 May, then 27 May, then 2 June.
On Monday, Alphawave said the deadline was pushed back further, but only by three days, to 5 June, suggesting a decision could be imminent.
Qualcomm is looking to get its hands on the Alphawave's SerDes chips, which help high performance connectivity in servers and networks.
"Alphawave and Qualcomm remain engaged in discussions in respect of a possible offer. Accordingly the Board of Alphawave and the Panel on Takeovers and Mergers have consented to an extension of the PUSU Deadline," Alphawave said in a regulatory filing.
