Great Western Mining reports further high-grade results from West Huntoon

(Sharecast News) - Great Western Mining reported further high-grade surface sample results from its West Huntoon prospect in Nevada on Tuesday, expanding the mineralised footprint as it prepares for a summer drilling campaign.
A sample from the Crowne Pointe granite returned 1.07 grams of gold and 455 grams of silver per tonne, extending a high-grade trend at the site to 80 metres in length.

Another sample from the northern part of the granite outcrop showed 2.16 grams per tonne gold, 34.2 grams per tonne silver and 1.58% copper, indicating precious and base metal potential well beyond the previously identified zone.

"The West Huntoon area has the potential to be a major copper project as well as having an abundance of precious metal and other mineral indications," said chairman Brian Hall.

"It is looking more and more exciting as we continue our field work and expand the mineralisation footprint."

The AIM-traded company also reported widespread copper mineralisation, with seven samples ranging between 0.18% and 0.31% copper, and an outlier at 0.68%.

Outside the granite area, a grab sample returned 0.44% copper and 6.4 grams per tonne silver, while another yielded 56 grams per tonne silver, 6.34% zinc, 0.51% lead and 0.09% copper.

Great Western said the results supported the view that West Huntoon is part of a larger, complex mineralising system and would help guide future exploration.

Drilling this summer would target both copper at depth and further precious metals potential.

At 1333 BST, shares in Great Western Mining were up 6.76% at 0.99p.
