Amaroq starts wide-ranging exploration programme

(Sharecast News) - Amaroq announced the start of one of the most wide-ranging exploration programmes in its history on Monday, targeting gold, copper, nickel, and rare earth elements across its extensive Greenland portfolio.
The AIM-traded firm said the 2025 campaign would include aggressive drilling at its flagship Nalunaq and Nanoq gold projects, as well as reconnaissance and sampling across key regional targets.

It said the programme would stretch from the southern fjords of Greenland to Amaroq's newly acquired West Greenland Hub.

At Nalunaq, where Amaroq announced a fourth mineral resource estimate in April, the company had started a dual programme of underground and surface drilling.

The aim was to expand the scale and confidence of the Mountain Block and Target Block resources.

Surface drilling would cover up to 3,500 metres, focusing on the South Block Deeps, which was considered a potential down-dip continuation of the Main Vein.

At the Nanoq gold prospect, roughly 5,000 metres of core drilling would be carried out across the central zone, with exploratory drilling possible along the western extension.

A 45-person camp was being established to support core logging, sampling, and programme flexibility as results came in.

The company said it was also progressing field work across satellite gold targets in the Nanortalik gold belt, including Vagar and Anoritooq, to identify potential supplementary feed for Nalunaq.

Beyond gold, Amaroq said it was pursuing copper and nickel exploration across South Greenland and its new licences in the north.

The copper programme, advised by Dr Steve Garwin, targeted porphyry and epithermal-style mineralisation at Ukaleq and Johan Dahl Land.

Initial scout drilling could be undertaken depending on early results.

Meanwhile, ground assessment and mapping at Stendalen and other targets would help define nickel drill priorities for 2026.

Rare earth element exploration would expand across the Gardar Igneous Province, following the award of new licences.

Amaroq said it was assessing both confirmed and newly identified REE targets to evaluate scale and resource potential.

In north west Greenland, the company said it had applied for a new licence covering the Minturn IOCG target and has begun a reconnaissance programme including geochemical sampling and logistical planning for potential 2026 fieldwork.

Amaroq said it was also reviewing historical data from its recently acquired West Greenland Hub, which included the Black Angel mine and Kangerluarsuk project.

A reconnaissance visit confirmed significant resource potential in the Glacier and Deep Ice zones.

Planning was underway for a full exploration campaign at the site in 2026.

"The launch of our 2025 exploration campaign marks one of the most ambitious and wide-ranging programmes in Amaroq's history," said James Gilbertson, vice-president of exploration at Amaroq.

"With active drilling at our flagship gold assets of Nalunaq and Nanoq, and regional work expanding our understanding of the copper, nickel, and rare earth elements opportunities, this season truly showcases the breadth of Greenland's mineral potential."

At 1146 BST, shares in Amaroq were up 1.3% at 74.96p.
