Week ahead: BoE, Global services, China trade in focus

(Sharecast News) - Financial markets' focus over the coming week will shift towards the UK, where the Bank of England is due to announce its latest interest rate decision.
Consensus is for a further 25 basis point reduction in Bank Rate to 4.0% with two of the Monetary Policy Committee's nine members expected to vote to keep rates steady.
Economists at Bank of America were largely on board with those expectations, telling clients that "weak growth/labor market and slowing pay should support a cut. Guidance to be gradual. Risks for hawkish tone but we expect no signal to end cuts."
However, BofA was anticipating that the MPC vote would be more closer with two members expected to have voted against a cut and another two for rates to be kept where they were.
Against that backdrop, Tuesday would bring with it the release of a raft of Purchasing Managers' surveys covering services sector activity in China, the UK, euro area and US.
Thursday would also bring with it a reading on Chinese foreign trade, as well as an auction of 30-year US Treasury debt, the results of which were likely to be closely watched.
Come Friday, investors would be mulling Chinese money supply figures and the preliminary results of the University of Michigan's consumer confidence survey for August.
