Iofina achieves highest ever quarterly iodine production

(Sharecast News) - Iofina said on Thursday that it achieved the highest quarterly iodine production in its history in the three months ended 30 September, supported by the successful startup of a new processing plant and strong market conditions.
The AIM-traded iodine producer reported output of 215.8 metric tonnes of crystalline iodide from its eight 'IOsorb' plants in Oklahoma, up 32% from 163.9 tonnes a year earlier.

September alone saw a record 75 tonnes produced following the commissioning of its IO 11 plant in July.

With water volumes expected to remain steady, second-half output was forecast to be between 400 and 440 tonnes.

Iofina said demand for crystalline iodine remains robust, with global consumption on track to reach 40,000 tonnes this year.

Spot prices had stayed above $70 per kilogram and were trending towards the mid-$70s, with little change expected for the rest of 2025.

Talks with the company's partner on its next project, IO 12, were in the final stages, with construction expected to begin before year-end.

"The company continues to execute its growth strategy as illustrated by the record month of September and third quarter 2025 production increasing by 32% year on year," said president and chief executive Dr Tom Becker.

"Importantly, production has been steady across all our plants, putting us on track for a crystalline iodine production range of 400 to 440 MT for the second half of the year, and ultimately, further full-year growth.

"With iodine prices remaining high and demand for Iofina's products only getting stronger, the board is excited by the current outlook for the rest of the year and into 2026."

At 1054 BST, shares in Iofina were up 8.52% at 24.96p.
