(Sharecast News) - Things will be fairly quiet on the corporate front next week, although earnings of note will include Constellation Brands and Delta Air Lines in the US, and JTC in the UK.
AJ Bell analysts Danni Hewson and Russ Mould noted that Delta will be one of the first big global airlines to report on trading since the Middle East conflict began when it posts its first-quarter results.
"Delta shares have been on a steady ascent over the last 12 months as the company has consistently beaten expectations, benefiting from a focus on premium and corporate travel and its burgeoning loyalty scheme and partnership with American Express. The company has also lightened its debt load to help it gain altitude," they said.
"However, the backdrop has turned and introduced some turbulence into the mix. Investors will be looking for Delta to quantify the impact of the Iranian conflict to date and how it might affect upcoming quarters.
"There will also be particular interest in the extent to which Delta's ownership of an oil refinery through its Monroe Energy subsidiary can insulate it against increasing fuel costs at a time when the cost of jet fuel is rising faster than crude oil prices."
Sticking with the US, the latest Federal Reserve minutes will be published on Wednesday, while Friday's focus will be the consumer price index for March.
"The upcoming CPI reading for March will show the initial impact of soaring energy markets, even if the US is somewhat insulated by being a net exporter of oil and gas," said the AJ Bell analysts.
"But close attention is likely to be paid to the core number, which strips out volatile food and energy costs, to get an idea of whether the inflation bug is spreading more broadly across the economy."
In the UK, full-year results from JTC - a provider of fund administration services - are out on Tuesday, while Metlen Energy & Metals' FY numbers will be released on Thursday. A trading statement from Unite will be published on Friday.
