Avingtrans AES division makes strong start to year

(Sharecast News) - Avingtrans reported a strong start to the year for its Advanced Engineering Systems division on Thursday, supported by rising demand in global nuclear markets.
The AIM-traded engineering group said its AES division has secured more than £10m of nuclear-related orders since the start of 2026, including a £3m contract to supply a reactor water cleanup pump for the Iberdrola Cofrentes nuclear power plant in Spain.

It said the division had also won orders for long-lead items linked to prototype pumps for next-generation nuclear technologies, alongside building a growing pipeline of opportunities in line with current market expectations.

Avingtrans said demand for its mission-critical products has increased amid a renewed global focus on energy security and decarbonisation, as well as the growing power requirements of digital infrastructure.

The group highlighted accelerating investment in nuclear energy, including small modular reactor technologies, as countries seek to reduce reliance on external energy sources.

It said the AES division operates across the nuclear lifecycle, supporting legacy infrastructure, new build projects, emerging technologies and decommissioning programmes, with businesses including Booth Industries, Hayward Tyler and Energy Steel.

"Avingtrans' businesses enjoy a distinctive position in nuclear markets, supporting customers across the whole nuclear lifecycle; from support for legacy nuclear power infrastructure, to new build sites, novel nuclear technologies, and decommissioning programmes," said chief operating officer Austen Adams.

"We have seen a renewed desire to develop new-build nuclear as a sustainable, decarbonised energy source.

"This has only accelerated in the wake of recent geopolitical instability, with countries around the world seeking to reduce their reliance on third-countries for their energy supplies."

At 1504 BST, shares in Avingtrans were up 7.76% at 625p.
