Standard Chartered appoints IR chief as new CFO

(Sharecast News) - Standard Chartered has appointed its head of investor relations as its permanent new chief financial officer with immediate effect.
Manus Costello will take over from interim finance lead Pete Burrill, who has been in the role since February following the abrupt exit of Diego De Giorgi.

Costello joined the company in 2024 to lead its investor relations arm, after 25 years in equity research, including as a founding partner and global head of research at AllianceBernstein's Autonomous research unit.

"Since joining Standard Chartered two years ago, he has made a significant contribution to the group's strategic positioning and engagement of stakeholders, while also bringing strong rigour and an entrepreneurial mindset to the role," said chief executive Bill Winters.

"This will further benefit Standard Chartered as we move forward into our next phase of growth and deliver on our medium-term financial objectives."

Standard Chartered also announced the appointment of Tanuj Kapilashrami as chief operating officer, effective immediately.

Kapilashrami, who joined Standard Chartered in 2017 and the group management team in 2021, will provide oversight of strategy, group-wide transformation, and the delivery and resilience of corporate functions, the bank said.
