US pre-open: Futures mixed as traders look ahead to FOMC minutes

(Sharecast News) - Wall Street futures were mixed ahead of the opening bell on Monday, with traders returning to work following a third consecutive weekly gain for the S&P 500.

As of 1230 BST, Dow Jones futures were down 0.13%, while S&P 500 and Nasdaq-100 futures had the indices opening 0.15% and 0.56% firmer, respectively.

The Dow closed 107.58 points lower on Friday, reversing gains recorded in the prior session.

As for Monday, Treasury yields were in focus prior to the open as market participants looked ahead to the release of the latest Federal Open Markets Committee meeting minutes later in the week. The benchmark 10‑year note eased a little over two basis points to 4.6743%, trimming recent highs as traders positioned for further policy signals.

Oil prices also continued to draw an amount of investor attention early on Monday, with international benchmark Brent crude futures up 0.82% at $89.25 a barrel, while West Texas Intermediate futures were 0.51% higher at $82.82 a barrel.

On the macro front, August's New York Empire State manufacturing index will be released at 1330 BST, while the National Association of Housebuilder's August housing market index will follow at 1500 BST.

No major corporate earnings were slated for release on Monday.
