FTSE 250 movers: Victrex, Energean surge

Polymer solutions firm Victrex lifted its full‑year pre‑tax profit guidance on Wednesday and announced the appointment of an interim chief financial officer as strong trading momentum continued into the final quarter.
Victrex now expects underlying pre-tax profits of £45m to £47m for FY26, ahead of its previous £42m to £44m range, after Q4 delivered further year‑on‑year growth across aerospace, value‑added resellers and electronics.
The FTSE 250-listed firm said all regions were performing well, with Asia‑Pacific showing particularly strong progress, while initial benefits from its completed 10% headcount reduction were beginning to flow through, supporting at least £10m of annualised savings from FY27.
Shares in Energean jumped on Wednesday after the Israel-focused oil and gas producer held guidance and reported a recovery in production after a 41-day suspension due to the US-Israeli war on Iran.
The company said adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, amortisation and exploration expenses fell 5% to $478m in the six months to June 30 and reiterated guidance for the full year. However, it cut exploration expenditure forecasts to $5-10m from $10-15m.
Profit after tax jumped 45% to $160m on a lower effective tax rate driven by the recognition of previously unrecognised deferred tax assets in Italy. Shares in the company were up 8%.
Ithaca Energy and Harbour Energy both gained as the price of Brent crude hit $100 a barrel.
Funding Circle fell again after losses on Tuesday despite an upgrade to full-year guidance, as it announced the departure of well-regarded chief executive Lisa Jacobs.
