(Sharecast News) - The eurozone's trade surplus with the rest of the world reached its highest level in nine months in July, according to figures out on Tuesday from Eurostat, as exports jumped to their steepest in over a year.
The trade balance rose to €14.2bn, up from €7.3bn in June and €10.7bn a year earlier, Eurostat reported.
This was the highest since October 2025 and well above the €3.7bn expected by economists.
"The increase was mainly driven by a higher surplus in chemicals and related products, in other manufactured goods and food and drink, partially offset by a decrease of surplus in machinery and vehicles," Eurostat said.
Exports were 9% higher than the year before at €276bn, a 16-month high, while imports were up 7.9% year-on-year at €261.8bn.
