(Sharecast News) - Next week will bring the latest policy announcement from the Bank of England, the US non-farm payrolls report and a deluge of UK corporate news.
On Monday half-year results from Ryanair are due, while in the US, quarterly results from Apple and Palantir will be eyed. On the macro front, the S&P Global UK manufacturing PMI for October will be among the highlights.
AJ Bell analysts Russ Mould, Danni Hewson and Dan Coatsworth said: "It's trick or treat time for new CEO John Ternus who has an opportunity to put his stamp on Apple's AI strategy and future direction.
"Apple's decision to raise the starting prices of the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max could ease margin pressure from rising component costs, but investors will be watching for signs of consumer pushback.
"With the shares trading close to all-time highs, Apple's premium valuation means investors will be looking for more than Apple's customary earnings beat.
"With only nine days of iPhone 18 Pro sales and no iPhone Duo revenue in the quarter, the market reaction is likely to be driven by Christmas guidance. Management may also be expected to address 'Crackgate' with reports on social media of problems with the screens on the new Duo model."
On Tuesday, Primark owner Associated British Foods will release full-year results, while TP Icap, Hiscox and IWG will put out third-quarter trading updates. Across the pond, AMD, Shopify and Pfizer are slated to report Q3 results.
Investors will also look out for the latest policy announcement from the Reserve Bank of Australia.
Wednesday will be busy on the UK corporate front, with trading updates from Barratt Redrow, Coca-Cola HBC, JD Wetherspoon, Lancashire Holdings, Prudential and Smith & Nephew, and half-year results from Trainline.
In the US, quarterly results from Arm, Qualcomm, McDonald's and Uber Technologies will be in focus.
On the macro front, preliminary eurozone inflation figures for October will be out, along with UK and eurozone PMIs for October.
On Thursday, the corporate calendar will be busy again, with half-year results from Auto Trader, BT Group and Tate & Lyle, Q3 results from Helios Towers and a trading and operations update from Harbour Energy. Trading updates from Next, Vistry Group, Croda, Howden Joinery, Morgan Sindall and OSB Group will also be released.
In the US, quarterly earnings from ConocoPhillips and Cloudflare will be in focus.
In the UK, all eyes will be on the latest policy announcement from the Bank of England, which is widely expected to raise interest rates by 25 basis points to 4%. This would mark the first move in the base rate of 2026.
Rabobank expects the MPC to raise Bank Rate to 4% in a 7-2 split vote. "Whether they like it or not, persistent energy inflation is increasingly forcing the MPC's hand, even as there is limited evidence of broader second-round effects," it said.
"We have raised our 2027 inflation forecast to 3.9%, driven primarily by higher energy price forecasts.
"We therefore add a second 25bp hike in February 2027, taking Bank Rate to 4.25%, with further moves remaining largely dependent on the situation in the Middle East."
On Friday, British Airways and Iberia owner IAG will release third-quarter earnings. On the macro calendar, the US non-farm payrolls report for October will be in the spotlight, along with average earnings and the unemployment rate.
